Visiting

Welcome

Hopewell welcomes all who want to know more about Jesus. For the life-time believer, skeptic and anywhere in between, Hopewell is a safe place to come and examine the claims of Jesus and prayerfully seek how to respond to what God might be doing in your life.

Our Hopewell Church family gathers together every week at 10:30 am to worship God the Father, Jesus His Son and the Holy Spirit. In doing so, we honor our covenant relationship with God, express our gratitude to Jesus Christ, and strengthen the bonds of our community.

Our historic Sanctuary is a space rich in heritage and beauty. As light filters through stained glass filling the vaulted architecture, choral and organ music direct our hearts and eyes heavenward in acknowledgment of our Lord’s majesty. We follow the liturgical (Church) calendar and incorporate expressions of the church’s foundational beliefs in the design of our service. Each week we sing hymns in praise to God and release the burden of our sinfulness by sharing the Good News of forgiveness found in Christ. We read scripture, and Pastor Brandon helps us understand how to apply it in everyday living. Each week we respond to God’s generosity through the collection of an offering. As a covenant family, we celebrate communion the first Sunday of every month and during special services.

FAQs

Visiting a church can be both exciting and daunting. Here's some commonly asked questions before you even visit:
  • What should I wear? Come dressed in whatever you are most comfortable wearing in worship. If that means a suit and tie, great! If that means jeans and a t-shirt great! We are happy to have you with us, and want you dressed in whatever way best allows you to hear and celebrate the good news of God’s love in Christ.
  • Is your worship traditional or contemporary? We follow a liturgy (or order of service) that is traditional and walks us through redemption each week. Our hymns are a mix of both new and old texts and tunes that glorify God and edify the church.
  • Do you have child care? We have a nursery for infants as well as children's church but many families keep their children in the Service. We love the sound of children in worship!
  • Is there a place for my kids during service? Children ages 3- 6 meet during the worship hour in the Sunday School Wing. 1st through 5th graders are invited to Junior Church during the sermon.
  • What is the sermon like? We preach through whole books of the Bible during a series (expository preaching) and occasionally take a break from going through a book to address specific topics such as worship, prayer, or the essentials of our faith.
  • Why does the pastor wear a robe? Pastor Brandon wears a robe so that whatever he wears isn't distracting during worship and so he is easily identified - or so he can hide a coffee stain.

Our goal

Hopewell is an expression of the global body of Christ - a member of His family. We seek to create a family atmosphere in our congregation. Family's are messy but are held together by their common purpose and relationships. We strive to get into the grit of real life and bring Christ's love, light, and truth into the ordinary. Above all, we seek to make disciples through making much of Christ.

Family at Hopewell, like any church or family, experiences the effects of the Fall. We strive, through the grace of God, to bring meaning and purpose to life in the community we find ourselves in. Want to learn more or get connected? Fill out the form below to get connected.
